{Desktop publisher} Those ready to make the leap to try their hand at desktop publishing might want to start with PagePlus 5 since it won't hurt the wallet. See how you like doing it and if you use it often enough. If PagePlus meets your needs, then who can ask for anything more? (Actually, you can!) The free download comes with 119 wizards, 10 samples, 40 fonts, 99 animated GIFs, 166 pieces of clipart, and 72 backgrounds. The free CD (you only pay for shipping), comes with much more of the same plus 10 QuickTours. Several reviewers indicated problems downloading the file, but for me it downloaded on the first try. Sometimes the connection may drop or something else messes it up. In this case, try again. If still no avail, contact the company. It comes with numerous publication options typical of desktop publishing programs such as ads, brochures, stationery, flyers, newsletters, programs, posters, and greeting cards. Its wizards can walk you through building an index, table of contents, calendar, and Web site. What about Quark Xpress and PageMaker? These are the "kings" of desktop publishing, whereas Microsoft Publisher and this program are the "princes." Who can complain about a program packed with this many features? [Meryl]
